What is a channel?
This is the additional code, you may have added to the ads that are precisely some great stuff. The channel serves to track individual ad units, link units, and AdSense for search box. Then you can find out where your own color scheme, ad placement and formats are most effective for a particular site.
They allow you to view detailed reports about the performance of specific pages and ad units. By setting a channel to a combination of pages or ad units, you can track the performance compared to a leaderboard banner, or compare your motorcycle pages to your automobile pages. You can even create a channel to track each domain separately, so you can see where your clicks are coming from. While a channel tracks performance and revenue, they will have no effect on earnings or ad targeting.
There are two types of channels can be selected to optimize your adsense:
- URL Channels.
URL channels can be enabled to track the performance without modifying code of ad. By entering a partial or full URL; you can begin tracking the performance of specific pages on your site. You can enter a top-level domain name to track all the pages on that domain, or you can insert some URL to track all the pages under a particular directory. URL channels are only available for AdSense for content pages. If you want to track your AdSense for search performance, use a custom channel. - Custom Channels.
With Custom channels can help you to track the performance of specific ad units based on the criteria established. By pasting channel-specific ad code into your page, you can track a variety of metrics across various URLs. Custom channels can be used to track the performance for a variety of ad formats, for example, or to compare different page topics to each other. You can also change a custom channel into an ad placement that can be selected advertisers to place their ads.
In the google adsense program is available up to 200 AdSense channels and 200 AdSense for search channels for each publisher, you can use channels to gain the insight you need to optimize your site performance. It’s easy to add, disable, or rename a channel, and a simple custom report to generate.
