You should use several techniques to earn your income with Google Adsense. We’ll take some different ways to setup AdSense.
Once you’ve applied, Google will place ads based on your keywords on your site. You will make money every time visitors click on one of those ads. But don’t click the ads yourself; Google will suspend your account. Google allows you to decide whose ads you want at your site. You likely don’t want your rivals promote on your site.
You should combine ads’ color into the color of your articles. So visitors think ads is a part of your contents. This will lead to more clicks which matches more money. You can change it frequently so visitors think there’s something new. Consider applying the AdSense ads as subtitles. When this is done, it draws the eyes of the visitor through the text and increases that the ads will be clicked. You should costumize borders because borders will reduce your overall click rate though. Use same color with background.
Use several formats of your ads. Text ads are divided by three formats, horizontal, vertical, and square. You can use Skyscraper (120×600) or Wide Skyscraper (160×600) at your sidebar, Banner (468 x 60) between articles, Medium Rectangle (300 x 250) or Large Rectangle (336 x 280) above or bottom of your articles. As my opinions, don’t use image ads. Image ads don’t only make internet connection slower but visitors unlikely click on ads. We should make ads as a part of our contents. You also can place unit links at your site. I likely place text ads than unit links and image ads because my incomes from text ads is bigger than the others.
Google has a search box as a part of Adsense program. This will add greater functionality for your visitors and increase your income. The advantage, your visitors don’t have to leave your site. You can setup search results to other blank page. The longer your visitors are on your site the greater chances of them clicking on one of your ads.
I never use adsense for feeds and domains so I can’t give you suggestions for these. Maybe for next time when I use them and get good income then I will post here.
Google AdSense program policies allow you to place up to three ad units and three link units on any page. You also can only use two search boxes on any page. So, please use some trial and errors techniques until you find best place for your adsense.
